Misc.: License

Your license file determines the number of copies of Exit~Writer that you are allowed to have loaded concurrently. You can verify this by selecting HELP | ABOUT from any screen within the program.

EXPIRATION DATE is the date the license terminates. You will be reminded as this date approaches, so that you may submit your renewal fee in time to prevent the program from turning off.

# USERS is the number of users that can load the program concurrently on a network.

USER NAME shows the name of the User of the currently loaded program.

DIRECTORY shows the location of the program files, followed by the location of the current user's directory (in parentheses).

EXCEEDING THE NUMBER OF LICENSED USERS: The "Floating License"

If you are licensed for two users and a third user tries to access Exit~Writer, that user will receive an appropriate message when starting the program:

The excess user determines what other user will be terminated. This actually works best in a situation where all users are in the same work group and there are more workstations available for discharging patients than there are licensed copies.

This "Floating License" arrangement lets you have the convenience of using Exit~Writer on any of your workstations without having to buy a license for each one. However, the inconvenience of having to restart the program each time you want to use it from a workstation that has been "bumped off" may justify the cost of additional licenses so that the program can be running on all workstations at all times.

The user being bumped off will get a message indicating who terminated their access to the program.
