Misc.: Editing Tips
NEW TOPIC TEMPLATES
To facilitate the creation of new instruction topics, we have provided you
with a template in English and Spanish for each of the instruction categories.
This will provide type fonts and sizes and formatting that is consistent with
other Exit-Writer instruction documents. Templates can be found in the Title List
as:
Template: Illness/Injury
,Template: Medication
.Template: Treatment & Misc.
To use a template, turn Manager Mode. Be sure that the User Title List is
displayed. (Change this from File Menu|Settings.) Locate the template and open it
(Title Menu | Edit Instruction). From the Edit Screen, select Edit Menu|
Select All; Edit Menu| Copy. Hit the Exit button to close the template
Title Menu | New Instruction (this opens a blank document)
Edit Menu| Paste
This pastes the template into the new document. Now you can add the text you
desire.
NOTE: While one document is open, you can still return to the Title List, select
another document and open it simultaneously to cut and paste between two
documents.
- From within the open document, click on the Windows Menu and select Title
List.
- To return to the original document, select Windows Menu and choose the open
document you want to go to.
AUTO PAGE BREAKS
The maximum number of lines of text that you can have on a page before a page
break is forced is 48.
IDEAL DOCUMENT LENGTH
The ideal number of lines of text for a document: 33 or less.
This allows room for one Referral, up to 3 lines of Special Advice, Signature
Lines, and up to 3 lines of footer info. If you tend to use less Special
Advice or no Referrals or no Signature Lines, then you can have more lines and still
fit all this information on one page.
MARGIN ADJUSTMENTS
In order to get a document to fit within the line limits mentioned, you may
use the Format Document command available within the Editing screen. You can set
the L margin to as low as 0.25 and the R margin as low as R margin 0.5.
Results may vary with various print drivers, so you have to test this with your
printer. Any changes you make with this command will only affect the current
document.
