Misc.: About the Instruction Set
Exit-Writer offers instructions for the most common diagnoses encountered in the
Emergency Department and Urgent Care settings, as well as commonly used medication and
treatment information.
Reading Level
English instructions are written at the 8th grade level. Spanish instructions
are written at the 6th grade level.
Authors
These instructions were authored by David Campell, MD, FACEP, a practicing
Board Certified Emergency Physician with over 20 years of clinical experience in
this field. Dr. Campell also teaches Emergency Medicine as an Assistant
Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco, and is a former
full-time faculty member of Stanford University School of Medicine.
The original English instructions have been translated into Spanish by Maria
Guadalupe Narvaez, M.D., a practicing internist trained in Mexico City, and Rose
Rivera, R.N., FNP, a nurse practitioner with 20 years of experience working
with Spanish-speaking patients in a Family Practice setting. Both Dr. Narvaez
and Ms. Rivera are experienced with the preparation of patient education
materials for the Spanish speaking population. Every attempt was made to keep
expressions and idioms general enough so they could be understood by the variety of
Spanish speaking cultures represented in the United States.
