File Menu: Setting: General Tab

Note: This Tab is only visible in Manager Mode.

Save Recovery Info with Print

This feature will save the selections from the last print session. Therefore, if there is a paper jam or other problem related to the printer, or if you need to change the language printed or make any other minor changes in the info given, you will be able to restore the last print session, make changes and reprint. This feature is not available in the Lite version of Exit-Writer.

Use Last Attending MD

In a situation where there is a single Attending MD seeing patients, this features avoids the need for repeatedly selecting the Attending's name each time a new patient is discharged. With this feature turned on, the Attending Name remains constant in the Attending MD field of the Custom Screen until a new name is selected from the Attending MD List.

Show New Patient Button

When your Hospital Registration system or ED Management Software has been set up to send data files to Exit-Writer, this option will turn on a button that appears on the Custom Screen which lets you change to a Patient List screen. This screen displays all patients registered but not yet discharged.

Selecting a patient from this list will add the data to the Custom Screen and remove this patient from the Patient List Screen.

Patient Import Polling Interval

Setting this interval determines how often the Import directory is polled for new patients registered. This works in conjunction with systems that have been setup to export patient data to Exit-Writer. Contact Parker Hill Associates for details. This feature is not available in the Lite version of Exit-Writer.

Patient Import Files Path

This tells Exit-Writer where to look for patient data as described in the above feature.

Instruction Import/Export Path

If new instructions are stored in a separate directory outside of Exit-Writer, this will make it easier for you to locate this path for importing and exporting. Most users will not make use of this function.

Spanish Permanently On

The Spanish Permanently On feature will enable Spanish to be the default language for printing the instructions. This is intended for locations where Spanish is the predominant language.

The software is shipped with this feature turned OFF. With the feature enabled, printing in English is possible by clicking to toggle the Spanish OFF button on the Title Screen. After the current print session is completed, the Spanish ON button will appear again. See Link below.

Large Font Permanently On

The Large Font feature will reformat all printouts to be in larger font for easier reading by the elderly and visually impaired. The effect of this is that the same instruction will take up more lines and may run onto a second page. See Link below.

Special Advice On

The Special Advice Template is a feature of the Custom Screen that permits "fill in the blank" entries for standard follow-up advice. The purpose of this feature is to save you from writing that same information repeatedly on every patient. The feature can be turned off permanently; or it can be turned off for individual print sessions when it does not apply. When the template is turned off, Special Advice can be entered in free-text form into the designated area. See Link below.

Special Advice Default Check On

When checked, the Special Advice Template will always be on. When unchecked, the default will be to have the Special Advice Template visible but not active on the Custom Screen until the On box is checked.

KEY SEARCH:

Time Out to Reset Search String

This is the amount of time the software will wait following the last key in a title-search before the search field is blanked out and ready for a new search. Prior to this time, the next keystroke will be considered part of the current search. After this time, the next keystroke will be considered the first letter of a new search.

# Characters to wait before search

This field indicates how many characters you must type before the search begins. The minimum is 1. The shorter the interval, the more the list bounces up and down as you type. Since most titles can be found with 2 or 3 keystrokes. This is the preferred setting.

Delay Interval to Trigger Search

After the first keystroke, a search will begin after this time interval, even if the minimum number of characters as designated above has not been input.
