Custom Screen: Special Advice Template
The Special Advice Template is a feature of the Custom Screen that permits
"fill in the blank" entries for standard follow-up advice. The purpose of this
feature is to save you from writing that same information repeatedly on every
patient. The feature can be turned off permanently; or it can be turned off for
individual print sessions when it does not apply. When the template is turned
off, Special Advice can be entered in free-text form into the designated area.
When this feature is selected, the following sentence will print as the first
line of Special Advice (when the first button is selected):
Call Sidney Andrews M.D. at your earliest convenience to make an appointment within the next [___]
[___]. When you call to make the appointment, tell the secretary that you were
referred from this facility.
This will be followed by any free text information that was added to the text
box on the Custom Screen.
You can modify the text that prints. Contact our office for details on how to
do this.
The software is shipped with this feature turned ON. To disable this feature,
turn on Manager Mode and select the File Menu|Settings. Under the General Tab,
place a check in the box in front of Special Advice Form.
Using the Special Advice Template:
If this feature is enabled as the default setting, there will be an X in the
checkbox next to the word ON adjacent to the Special Advice Template. If you
want to turn it off for the current print session, uncheck this box. The fields
will gray-out.
With the Template enabled and the CALL feature selected, the first Referral
Source is automatically inserted in the first line of the Special Advice
template. If this is not what you want, you can click on the down arrow of the Name
field in the template to select other Referral Source that you have entered in
the top right Referral fields, or you can enter free text.
The "For an appointment to be seen" option has two choices. Use the check box
to indicate if either or both apply. Click on the # field and insert the
number of days or weeks.
Alternatively, you can select the "Keep your scheduled appointment" button.
You may enter free text into the Special Advice Free-Text field to the right
of the Template. This text will appear at the end of the Template text.
