Custom Screen: Referral Field
The term "Referral" is used to indicate the physician or facility to whom the
current patient is being referred for a follow-up appointment. Selecting a
Referral is just like selecting an Instruction Title. Type the first few letters
of the Referral name and hit {Enter}. If a unique match occurs with a name
previously entered in the Referral List, that name will appear in the Referral
field, and the cursor will go to the next field.
Referral List Display
If there is more than one name in the Referral List that matches the letters
typed, or if there is no match, the Referral List will open with the closest
match highlighted. Use the arrow keys or mouse pointer to select the desire name
and double click or hit {Enter} to add it to the Referral Field.
If the Referral List opens when you are trying to enter a name in the Referral
field, this means that the letters typed did not match any names in the list,
or there was more than one name in the list that matched. Use the arrow key to
refine your selection.
Adding a Referral to the List
If the name you want is not on the Referral List, you have two choices:
- Add the name as a Temporary Referral. This is useful for a referral source
that is rarely given. A button for this purpose appears at the bottom of the
Referral List; or,
- Turn on Manager Mode and permanently add this name with the New button at the
bottom of the Referral List window. (See Auxiliary List Displays below.)
Once the document is printed, the Temporary Referral is cleared.
Moving Past Referral Fields
There are three Referral fields for multiple referrals. After entering the
first Referral name, use the {Tab} or {Down Arrow} key to move to the next field.
The {Page Down} key jumps directly to the Special Advice field.
