Custom Screen: Attending MD Field

The term "Attending MD" is used to indicate the physician who has evaluated the patient and is authorizing discharge. You may indicate an Attending MD in the corresponding field of the Custom Screen.

Selecting an Attending MD is just like selecting an Instruction Title. Type the first few letters of the Attending's Name and hit {Enter}. This will start a "Lookup" process in the associated Auxiliary List. If a unique match occurs with an Attending MD name in that List, this name will appear in the Attending MD field, and the cursor will go to the next field. If there is more than one name in the Attending MD List that matches the letters typed, or if there is no match, the Attending MD List Display will open with the closest match highlighted. Use the arrow keys or mouse pointer to select the desire name and double click or hit {Enter} to add it to the Attending MD Field.

Attending MD List

If the Attending MD List opens when you are trying to enter a name in the Attending MD field, this means that the letters typed did not match any names in the list, or there was more than one name in the list that matched. Use the arrow key to refine your selection. If the name you want is not on the Attending MD List, you have two choices:

i) Add this MD as a Temporary MD. This is useful for a physician who will rarely see a patient in your facility. A button for this purpose appears at the bottom of the Attending MD List; or,

ii) Turn on Manager Mode and permanently add this name with the New button at the bottom of the Attending MD List Display. (See Auxiliary List Displays below.)

Once the document is printed, the Temporary MD is cleared.
